Making Changes and Moving Up

This week has been a week full of inspiration, creativity, excitement and epiphanies. I have had some major clarifications arise for my dance company and will be unveiling a completely new branding in a few weeks. For the first time in my life my purpose feels so clear and I'm really excited! I can't wait to share all the details with you :-)

I read a really great ebook this week called Finance Your Dance by Ashani Mfuko. If you are looking for any kind of help with your business plan, clarifying your goals, or learning how to maximize your profits, I highly recommend this book. Her ideals about the arts truly resonate with me. She believes that the dance world (I would say the arts in general) need to stop talking about how we're poor starving artists and do something about it. Just because we're artists does not mean we deserve to work for free nor that we should suffer from financial insecurity. I for one have felt this way my entire career and have been working towards building my own "empire" for a long time. Her book has allowed me to see my business in a new light and really helped to clarify the tiny details that will make my business even more successful. You can find a link to her book HERE.

Life comes together in crazy ways. I've been doing a lot of reflecting on why my journey happened the way it did. If I knew 10 years ago what I know now I may have booked a few more gigs or may have been able to keep up with my schedule better. That thought makes me a little angry and a little sad, but honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. My experiences with bad health, over work, and stress have given me more knowledge that I can use to inform every future decision I make. By speaking out about my experiences I can help others to see different paths to take. God has a greater purpose for me and this week its all blossomed like a spring field. I feel ready to conquer the world and let nothing stand in my way.

My week had a few ups and downs (like most people) but overall I've been feeling relaxed and glowing. I'm enjoying the little things now. Satruday morning as I was rushing out the door to drive to work I noticed that the sky was so beautiful. The sun was just starting to peek out and created a whimsical stream of light blue amidst the grey clouds. Is there a picture? Only in my mind; I'm learning to live in the moment, not just document it. It was a nice start to the day.

This week I encourage you all to take some time to reflect on your purpose. Are you living the life you want to? What is your passion? I hope you can feel the love and inspiration I'm feeling right now; there's nothing better than knowing your living your life full out.

  1. This is awesome! Thank you so much for reading and sharing my e-book Catherine! I appreciate it very much! We all can look back and say, "if I knew then, what I know now", but what matters most is that we learn from our experiences (and that of others), and make smarter decisions going forward. Great blog! I look forward to reading more and staying in touch with you! Be blessed my dear! :)

  2. Thanks so much Ashani for the feedback and writing your ebook! I look forward to staying in touch as well :-)

The Truth About My Journey With The Body Ecology Diet

It's been a really long time since I've posted here. Some of it was because life's been very busy. A lot of it has been because I've been afraid. I'm afraid of disappointing you, my tried and true readers. I've received so many wonderful messages over the last 3 years since starting the Body Ecology Diet that I'm an inspiration and that my blog has helped you to stay on track and commit to your health. I was afraid that if I wrote that I've been struggling lately that you would be disappointed. I haven't abandoned my beliefs about the wonders of this lifestyle at all. In fact I believe in it 100%. After my wedding 2 1/2 months ago, I had a lot of emotional baggage come up. I'm so happy in my marriage and have the best husband in the world but I no longer have the distraction of wedding planning to keep me distracted from really dealing with my issues; issues that go beyond food. You see Body Ecology taught me that this whole adventure is a mind/b

Autumn Harvests

I am a self-proclaimed summer chic. I much prefer warm sunny days over the cold chilly winter days that accompany the upcoming holiday season. That being said, there is one thing I do love about this time of year and that's the autumn harvest! My favorite squashes are in full bloom and I can't get enough of them. They're warming, a little sweet, and in my opinion nature's own organic comfort food. I mean seriously nature was cool enough to give us a "pasta" plant ready for you to mix up with your favorite sauce! (If you haven't experienced spaghetti squash, I suggest you get your hands on one immediately. No boiling water required and you can even use the "skin" as a bowl!) So what are the different types? Here's a list of my favorites! Delicata squash. It almost looks like a multi-colored cucumber (except with a much firmer exterior). I have made both savory and sweet dishes with this deliciously versatile squash! If you haven&
I started this blog as an accountability tool when I began the Body Ecology Diet almost 4 years ago. There have been a lot of life changes this year from marriage to new jobs. When I started my journey it was because I wanted to be healthy and glowing for my wedding day. After the wedding, I can honestly say I felt  a bit lost on my health journey because my motivation was gone. I have a wealth of knowledge about healthy eating, meditation, self-care, and exercise at my fingertips but I became very unsure of my motivations. This morning I'm writing to tell how I've re-discovered my motivation. My husband recently read Louise Hay's book  You Can Heal Your Life  and has been sharing her mantras and guidance with me. I read the book myself a few years back but have found his discussions re-igniting the fire inside me. You see the only way we can make healthy lifestyle changes and truly find happiness is to love ourselves. Last night I went to dinner with some of the most ins
